Revelan nominados al Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll

27/09/2011 - La organización del Salón de la Fama del Rock and Roll, que celebra e inmortaliza a los artistas más influyentes y exitosos del rock y sus muchos subgéneros y derivados, anunció este martes sus nominados para la ceremonia de inducción del año 2012, informa The Hollywood Reporter.

Para ser elegible como candidato al Salón de la Fama, el requisito básico es que el artista o grupo aspirante haya lanzado su primer single o disco hace 25 años o más. Los nominados son entonces sujetos a consideración de un jurado de unos 500 votantes.

El grupo estadounidense Guns 'N Roses, es uno de los grupos nominados para el Salón de la Fama. El grupo del polémico cantante Axl Rose lanzó su primer EP, “Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide”, en 1986. Desde entonces el grupo lanzó seis discos de estudio de los cuales vendió más de 100 millones de copias.

La banda californiana Red Hot Chili Peppers, que lanzaba en 1984 su disco debut “The Red Hot Chili Peppers”, también ingresó en la lista de nominados, junto con bandas como el grupo de rock y hip hop Beastie Boys, que lanzó el EP “Polly Wog Stew” en 1981; la legendaria banda del cantante Robert Smith The Cure, que comenzó su camino a convertirse en ícono del punk rock con el lanzamiento en 1978 del single “Killing an Arab”; y el grupo de la icónica cantante estadounidense Joan Jett, The Blackhearts, recordados por éxitos como “I Love Rock and Roll” (1982).

Los demás artistas nominados al Salón de la Fama son la cantante estadounidense Donna Summer, el cantautor escocés Donovan, el grupo de funk War, el dúo del hip hop Eric B. & Rakim, la banda de R&B The Spinners, el grupo rockero de la década de 1970 Heart, los británicos de The Small Faces, el legedario guitarrista Freddie King, la cantautora neoyorquina Laura Nyro y la agrupación Rufus with Chaka Kahn.
